How does the game work?
Playing SCVNGR is fun! It’s a game about going places, doing challenges, and earning points! Once you start the game, you’ll get a welcome message, followed by an address. Go to that address to answer your next text message – a Challenge about the location you’re at. It could be as simple as finding a statue or as challenging as roman numeral math; who knows! If you get it right, you get points for your team. Answer it wrong too many times, and we’ll send you along you merry way to another Challenge.
Teams are sent to Challenges using our patented SmartRoute technology. Once you have answered a Challenge correctly, you’ll be sent to the next closest, least populated Challenge location.
Do I lose points for answering a Challenge wrong?
No. Everyone playing has 3 attempts to answer each Challenge in the game. If you don’t get it right in those 3 attempts, you only lose the chance to answer that Challenge. We’ll send you along to the next Challenge if you miss all 3 attempts.
How do I win?
Be the team to get the most points by the end of the game! You won’t know how other teams are doing during the game, so play you’ll have to play your hardest! Both team members MUST be present at the Awards Ceremony following the game in order to claim a prize.
Why won’t the ‘Submit/Next’ button work on the registration page?
Ensure you’ve completed all required fields and/or checked off the terms and conditions. Still not working? Try registering in a different web browser.
Do I need a partner to play?
Yes – we require participants to play in teams of two. Both participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Do I have to submit my partner’s information prior to game day?
No. Just bring them the morning of game day, and you’re all set!
My phone number has changed since I registered! What do I do?
You can update your information on the morning of game day with the check-in team at Kickoff.
I didn’t receive a confirmation email, was I accepted?
With so many applications, it can take us a few days to read them all! We’ll be in touch soon via email though – just don’t forget to check that we haven’t gotten tossed into your spam folder.
I sent TEST to 728647 and I didn't receive a response. What do I do?
First, ensure you’ve texted “TEST” to 728647; capitalization doesn’t matter. 728647 is a short-code, and is supposed to be shorter than a regular phone number. Also, ensure that you don’t have an auto-signature (e.g. “Sent from from my iPhone”) or signature (<3 Marie) attached to your text messages. Lastly, all messages must be sent via SMS; MSM will not work with the SCVNGR system.
Still not working? Contact your carrier’s customer service and request 3rd party text messaging to be enabled. Each team only needs one phone to play, so you can also try testing your partner’s phone.
If all else fails, shoot us an email and we’ll do our best to assist you!
Can I bring my kids?
Yes!
Can my team use two phones to play the game?
No. You must play the whole game using the phone you registered with on game day in order for us to correctly tally your points. We will NOT add points from different phone numbers together. Make sure your phone of choice is tested, working, and fully charged!
